The name covers more than one tree. The acacias in the old, broad sense give mimosa and the rarer cassie, whose absolute is powdery, violet-like and spicy, while the white, hanging blossoms of the false acacia, or black locust, carry a honeyed, orange-blossom sweetness and yield the honey sold as acacia honey. A perfume's acacia usually leans toward that sweet, powdery side, soft and a little green.
