Bougainvillea

The vivid magenta, orange or white of a bougainvillea belongs to papery bracts, while the true flowers are the tiny cream tubes they surround, and neither gives off much scent. Its accord is light and airy, a sheer, sweet floral with a green, leafy touch and a dry, papery lightness, pale in scent for all the colour of the plant.
