monoi oil

Monoi is a skin and hair oil before it is a note, made by soaking tiare flowers in coconut oil until the fat takes on their scent, a small-scale cousin of the maceration in warm fat once used around Grasse to capture flowers. Coconut oil turns solid in cool weather and melts on skin, and perfume rebuilds monoi with lactones and white-flower materials, a creamy, coconut-sweet floral that stays near the skin.
