The Holy Mountain
Balsam fir stores its oleoresin in blisters on the bark, and pine joins it in a resinous green that incense turns solemn. Guaiac wood adds a smoke of its own, and labdanum, gathered long ago from the coats of grazing goats, gives the conifers an amber depth.
