Galbanum, the gum of the giant fennel, gives this green chypre, dated 1986, its bite, while aldehydes make basil, neroli and bergamot soapy and bright. In the heart hyacinth and iris bring earth and powder to rose, violet and jasmine, and oak moss and civet darken cedar and sandalwood with bittersweet musk.
