This 1977 leather by Yuri Gutsatz starts as a soapy cologne of aldehydes, lime and petitgrain, bitter and bright, and in the heart violet and its leaf, powder and green, meet the rubbery balsam of styrax. Cade oil, a tar that shares the campfire phenols of wood smoke, darkens the leather of the base with labdanum, oakmoss and patchouli, while vetiver and sandalwood ground it.
